Uh oh – I got hit!
My friend and critique partner, Laird Sapir has tagged me in the writing game, “The Lucky 7 Meme.”
So this means you all get a little sneak peek at my current work in progress, an urban fantasy called The Unnamed.

Thanks, Laird!

Lucky 7 Meme

These are the rules:

1. Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines, sentences, or paragraphs, and post them as they’re written.
4. Tag 7 authors, and let them know.

So here’s the specified excerpt:

Haedyn leafed through the pages, stopping occasionally to read over the entries. Near the end of the journal she glimpsed a sketch and turned back to look at it more closely. It was a crude drawing of a woman, hair wild and flowing, arms stretched to the heavens with lightning bolts streaming from both hands. But it was the eyes that made Haedyn catch her breath. They were just like hers: blood-red.
She stood from the couch. Her heart started pounding in her chest and her eyes grew wide. She read the entry below the picture and her mouth went dry.

We knew not what would result from the demons’ vengeful couplings. Even in the womb this monster held knowledge. They look like humans, but they are not. They are born able to speak, but their eyes show the evil of their creation. Their power is unmeasurable and uncontrollable. They are abominations. We cannot allow them to live, or they will kill us all.”

And there it is, in all its first draft glory.  🙂

And now to choose the next Lucky 7 to play along:

1. Karen McFarland
2. Melinda VanLone
3. Myndi Shafer
4. Debra Kristi
5. Fabio Bueno
6. Prudence MacLeod
7. Tymothy Longoria

And if you want to play but your WIP doesn’t have 77 pages yet, just grab 7 lines from page 7.  Now get to posting – I really want to read some great excerpts!
