Great interview, ladies! I love Alica’s advice on learning all we can, but applying only what works for us. This is such an important lesson, and one I think many new authors grapple with.

Thanks August! When I started writing I would burst into tears trying to change things to fit other people’s advice. It helped a lot once people told me I only had to use what worked for me.

I think I have to agree with you about keeping it one story. It’s the personal side that really helps readers connect with your character. If you took that out, I think you’d lose something.

Thanks Marcy- it was hard to go against their advice- they understood it wasn’t them, it was me. I really respect both of them. I think that was the moment I became an author when I stood by my story without ego or attidue, understood their ideas, and did my own thing anyway.
